April
14, 2005 ![]() KRBS celebrates it's 3rd year on the air. |
| The birthday party was held on Saturday, April 16th at the radio station during our annual 'Day of the Dead' whole day event. Every year Tom Matthews creates a whole day of programming, from 7 am to midnight, which includes Grateful Dead music and other jam bands, live music, giveaways, and interviews. This year Paul Kamm from 'The Deadbeats', out of Nevada City came down to help us celebrate. He brought down his fellow band member Tom Manig and Heather from the band Caravan. Tom Manig actually plays for both of those bands. Also performing in the KRBS studio that day was Bob Harrison and Laurel Paulson-Pierce. Bob has a been a generous supporter of KRBS for the last 3 years, and Laurel is a programmer. You can hear her once a month on the Crossroads Show, Saturday from 2pm-4pm. Both these musicians are incredibly talented. They work together locally and grace the KRBS studios with wonderful live music for different events we have had. We also had one of our talented local youth walk in off the street with his guitar and ask to play for us. Tom welcomed him into the booth, set him up, and we all were impressed and surprise of his talent. We love being able to give the youth an outlet for their budding talents. Thanks to all the musicians, programmers and community members who came out to honor the efforts of a community to create a voice in OUR TOWN. |
